LSU Hilltop Arboretum By Quadcopter

Sunday was quite windy, but that didn't stop my friend and I from taking to the skies at the LSU Hilltop Arboretum. It's a 14 acre site in Baton Rouge, LA, with some neat architecture, and a little bit of terrain variation.
We had a LOT of crashes due to pilot error, and a few due to the weather. Trees without leaves are really hard to make out on the goggles! Sticks claimed many a propeller.
We also managed to get some pretty high quality pictures of the "LSU Special" in action!

Night Flight - FPV Groundstation Test

I rigged up a 7" LCD on a tripod, to act as a ground station. Goggles are great, but they're only good for one person. With this ground station, I can show friends by the handful what FPV looks like.
Expect to see more about this later. And without further ado, here's a video I made using the ground station:

Day and night, the screen is beautiful. Be sure to let me know what you think of the video!

Levee Life

I did some lazy flying out by the Mississippi river last weekend. Flies like a dream, and the weather was great. Shot on the "LSU Special" Alien X frame.
Readers, what do you want to see more of? Do you like the way I've been posting FPV videos? What could make them better? Be sure to let me know in the comments.

Sunset at Muscle Beach

Flying is a great stress reliever. Living in the city, traffic is bad. Working several jobs and going to school piles up, so it's nice to take a load off. Unfortunately I had to wait in some of that traffic to get locknuts to hold my props on tight! I busted a bunch of props and lost a normal nut I had used to hold my FPV250's props on when I tried to fly yesterday. Locknuts! Always use locknuts!

Rant aside, I hope you like this gypsy-punk inspired video. It's pretty dark, but my FPV board camera is very light sensitive, so I could still see bright as day. I'll make a video about that soon. Enjoy!

Flyin' With the Birds

The weather was incredibly nice for January, so I took my mini quad out for a flight.
