These moccasins were a father's day gift for my dad.
For the last few weeks, I've been messing about with different patterns and designs for moccasins. Soft sole, hard sole, pucker toe, suede, all kinds of stuff. Finally, after three or four failed moccasin patterns, I managed to hit the sweet spot.
The suede I use is about 5oz, and can be cut with normal scissors.
After learning how painful driving leather needles in by hand is, I started pre-punching all the holes.
A modified whip stitch holds everything together quite nicely, keeping the puckers in place. I'm using artificial sinew, rather than waxed cotton thread. I wasn't a fan of it at first, but the sinew has less bulk (Which makes the seams more comfortable), and seems plenty strong,
